LASER CLADDING

The GTV laser cladding system ranges from 2- 22kW for the economical production of wear and corrosion protective coatings. The technology has been adapted to high speed laser cladding for cylindrical components. High speed welding layers can be deposited in excess of 400 m per minute at thicknesses greater 200 micron.

Robotic Laser Technology

Laser Cladding is a surfacing technique that is utilized for hard facing and part restoration build-up coatings. Adapted optics and powder nozzle design provide cost-effective laser cladding solutions. Specialty robotic handling systems are incorporated to allow for high production rates on complex parts with minimal setup time. Spraywerx offers laser cladding machines and equipment from GTV GmbH.

Laser cladding Details & Specs

The GTV laser cladding system ranges from 2- 22kW for the economical production of wear and corrosion protective coatings. The technology has been adapted to high speed laser cladding for cylindrical components. In high speed welding, coatings can be deposited in excess of 400 m per minute at thicknesses up to 500 micron.

Laser Cladding Properties

  • Low heat transfer to substrate, small heat affected zone.
  • Metallurgical bonding between coating and substrate
  • Minimal dissolution mixing between coating and substrate
  • High density gas tight coatings
  • High process stability
  • Easy adaptable to robotics and automation
  • Combination with Thermal Spray processes possible
  • Laser upgrades with 2 kW increments possible

High Speed Laser Cladding Processes

The GTV Turnkey Top Speed-Cladding Process combines the benefits of conventional laser cladding equipment with the high surface coating coverage rates of thermal spraying. These turnkey systems are designed for high production rates.

The dual layer claddings provide a wear resistant top layer and a corrosion resistant bottom layer. The stainless steel bottom layer is a gas-tight layer approximately 250 μm in thickness. It also provides ductility and strain tolerance and also acts as a crack arrestor, should cracks in the top layer appear during the life cladding system through impact, overloading or otherwise.
